It’s now November and we’ve got lots of leaves in our yard. We have several River Birch trees and they shed leaves like there is no tomorrow. The leaves don’t change the beautiful shades of red, yellow and orange…..they just start turning brown and dropping like flies. No matter how much you rake them up (or use a leaf blower/vacuum), there are always more. I look forward to the days when the leaves are all gone.
When I saw this stamp set called Winter Woods, I knew I eventually wanted to get it. It has bare trees just how the River Birch trees in our yard look in the winter.
Here is the first card I made.
I sponged in a little color because it just made them look a little “softer” and not so stark. You can do this with a sponge dauber, but if you don’t have one of those, you can use a quarter of a round sponge. Put a binder clip on the pointed side to make it easy to hold.
And I added a little bit of a tree in the bottom right hand corner on the inside of the card. Do you see it?
Or maybe you need a close up.
I made this card as a sympathy card because I happened to need one, but it could be just a “Thinking of You” or “hello” card.
If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:
- Winter Woods Stamp Set
- Crumb Cake Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” ; Score at 4 1/4”
- Grapefruit Grove Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5” x 3 3/4” and a piece 5 1/4” x 4” (for inside)
- Ink: Crumb Cake and Grapefruit Grove
- Burlap Ribbon – I cut this to separate the strands and wrapped three of them around the card and then tied a little bow to finish it off.
- A quarter of a round sponge & a binder clip
I’ve got some more ideas of cards to make with this stamp set….like using that Christmas Tree! Or that cute little acorn. Stayed tuned more cards are coming!
