As Hurricane Florence bears down on the east coast, it’s time step back and just take a moment to be thankful. Thankful for a Hurricane? Well, yes….thankful for those who are praying for the safety of people they don’t even know. Thankful for family and friends who are taking in those fleeing from the storm. Thankful for strangers reaching out to help others….sandbagging, preparing homes. Thankful for all those who are working day & night to keep us informed about the hurricane’s path. Thankful for all the police, emergency workers, city and state employees who are working tirelessly to be prepared for any emergency that might arise. Thankful for all the store employees who are dealing with cranky customers when the milk, water and bread aisle are empty. Thankful for neighbors who are not evacuating, but are watching our home. Thankful for the workers at the rest stop who were handing out free bottles of water to weary travelers at 1:00 a.m. on I-95. It’s easy to look around and be thankful if we will just stop our “busy-ness” for a few moments and look for the blessings in our life.
