I went out of town then end of Juy to a Stamping Retreat and then took a little side trip on the way home to visit with my Mom for a few days and didn’t take my computer, so I’m behind on getting you the last two cards that I did for Christmas in July….so it will be Christmaas in August instead for the next two posts! Christmas is my favorite holiday, so I don’t mind sharing some Christmas cards, especially since the new Sept-Dec 2024 Mini Catalog is coming soon and there are lots of new stamps that I’m waiting to try! But first this card:

This card was made using the Sophisticated Sled stamp set. I made another card using this set that you can see HERE. But for this card instead of die cutting the pieces of the sled and assembling it , I stamped and colored it instead and then die cut it out. The stamped version is a slightly larger than using the die cut pieces as you can see when looking at the dies below. The entire stamped sled is cut with the largest die on the top left and the pieces are cut with the runners (middle top) and the wooden part (bottom right).
This card is probably appropriate now since it is Red, White & Blue, and the summer Olympics are happening. Although I didn’t do that on purpose, but I do love a patriotic color scheme.

The Designer Series Paper I used on the bottom of the card is from the Country Woods Designer Series Paper. (That paper is included in the 15% off Designer Series Paper SALE starting tomorrow, August 6th through August 31st!) The top piece I embossed with the Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder.

On this card, I added a pair of skates to hang from the sled. I learned to ice skate when I was in second grade and borrowed a pair of skates from a friend. The little town I lived near, Noank, CT, had a fire station with a tennis court next door that had a curb around it. In the winter, the fire station would flood the court with water and it would freeze so we could skate. You didn’t have to worry about falling through the ice because it was only a few inches deep!

If you thought the skates looked a little “glittery” it is because they are! I added a little bit if Wink of Stella to make them shiny.
If you’d like to give this card a try, you will need the following supplies:
- Sophisticated Sled Stamp Set and Coordinating Sophisticated Sled Dies
- Spotlight on Nature Dies (circle)
- Snowflake Sky Embossing Folder
- Misty Moonlight Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, Score and fold at 5 1/2″
- Basic White Cardstock – Cut 4″ x 2″ (emboss) , Cut 4” x 5 ¼” and Cut 3 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ (die cut circle)
- Country Woods Designer Series Paper – Cut 4″ x 3″
- Garden Green Cardstock – Scraps to die cut 2 pin branches
- Ink: Real Red, Early Espresso (stamp sled) and Basic Gray (stamp skates)
- Stampin’ Blends Markers – Pecan Pie (sled), Smokey Slate (skates)
- Real Red 3/8″ Cotton Ribbon (retired)
- Embellishment: Iridescent Faceted Gems
- Adhesive: Multipurpose Liquid Glue, Dimensionals, Glue Dots
- Tools: Paper Trimmer, Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine,
And don’t forget to add a little fun to the inside of your card. I think I’m going to go back and add in a pair of skate on the inside of my card…..what do you think should be on the inside?

Happy Stamping!
Patricia
