All during the month of July I’ll be showing you easy card designs that you can make turning your “regular” cards into Christmas cards! No need to reinvent something new, You can have a whole new look to your cards just by changing the pretty papers and cardstock colors and stamped images into something “Christmas” themed! Yesterday I shared this Easy Card Design using the Hooray for Surprises Stamp Set. You can see that card and post HERE.
Today’s card is made using the same layout but stamped with images and sentiments from the Merriest Trees Stamp Set and Dies.
This stamp set is a carry-over from last year’s September-December Mini Catalog. You can find it on page 78 in the new 2024-2025 Annual Catalog. I made quite a few cards with this stamp set last year and was happy to see it return. You can make five different size trees simply by stamping the tree and then using the dies to cut the size that you want fro your project. You can also easily fussy cut the trees apart as the sections are clearly defined as you can see in the picture of the stamp set below.
Because the tree is one large stamp, I couldn’t “triple” stamp it directly onto the Basic White Strip on the front of the card as I did in yesterday’s card, so I did the next best thing. I inked my stamp once (and only inked the top two sections and stamped three seperate trees. I die cut the three images using the second smallest tree die. I stamped the sentiment first and then layered the die cut trees on top of each other the starting with the lightest inked tree at the top and to get the same effect as the stamped flower in yesterday’s card.
The Designer Series Paper I used is actually from two different sets of retired papers – the Regals 6″ x 6″ Designer Series Papers from the 2023-2024 Annual Catalog and the A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper from the Sept-Dec 2023 Mini Catalog. I like to use up my retired papers because somehow my pretty Designer Series Papers multiply like rabbits in my craft room, so I try to use it to cut down on my stash so I have room to buy more!
If you’d like to make this card, you will need the following:
- Merriest Trees Stamp Set & Merriest Trees Dies
- Real Red Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4″ x 11″, Score and fold at 5 1/2″, plus Cut 2 1/4″ x 4 1/8″
- Regals 6×6 Designer Series Paper – Cut 1 strips 3/4″ x 3 3/4″ (red diagonal stripe)
- A Walk in the Forest Designer Series Paper – Cut two strips from two different patterns (pine boughs and holly boughs)
- Basic White Cardstock – Cut 2 pieces 4″ x 5 1/4″ and Cut 1 piece 2 1/8″ x 4″
- Ink: Garden Green and Real Red
- Toile Tidings Glitter Dots (Retired)
- Paper Trimmer, Multipurpose Liquid Glue and Dimensionals
