I’m not a big Halloween Card Sender, but I do love to make Halloween treat boxes, bags and packaging. But I felt like I should made a few cards too, so this past week-end, I did a bunch of stamping and die cutting to make my crafting time go a bit faster when I started creating,
And I decided to do some more colorful skeletons too. I don’t like scary things, so making the skeletons colorful makes them a bit more fun that “boo” scary. And die cut some cute kitties and doggies, a few tombstones and “coffins” , fences, and accessories like hats and shoes. It’s going to be like playing with paper dolls – dressing up the skeletons.
This card actually uses two stamp sets – The Bag of Bones Stamp Set and the Pick of the Patch Stamp Set as I wanted to put a few pumpkins on this card to go along with Jack O Lantern’s tombstone. It looks like a lot of work to make the background, but it’s as easy as cutting a piece of paper – a piece of the Them Bones Designer Series Paper that is. One of the pieces has cemetery “scenery”, so it’s a great way to make 6 quick cards.
The paper I used on the right is in the top left corner of the paper picture. You can see there are lots of other fun patterns that can be used for Halloween cards, but also Fall Themed cards. If you cut the paper on the left in half across the midlle and then cut into into 4” strips, you will have 6 potential cards.
I die cut the tombstone from the paper (yes! One of the dies fits it perfectly!) and then popped it up on dimensionals and put it back in the “hole” where it was die cut. I added a few pumpkins that were stamped with the Pick of the Patch Stamp set and punched them out with the coordinating Pumpkin Builder Punch. I used a sponge dauber to add a little Cajun Craze ink to the pumpkins to make them look a little more “real” like they’ve been sitting around outside. There is a fence in the paper design, but I added a die cut one on top as I wanted one that was black for this card. The skeleton is made of pieces that I draped around the tombstone. (Hint: The skeleton is on dimensionals – cut a very skinny strip off the side of the dimensionals sheet to place on the back of the bone pieces.
