Simple Triangle Cards

I was searching around yesterday afternoon looking for a simple card design that I could do for my Facebook Live that I do every Tuesday.  Usually I share a card that I make with my stamping friends on Sunday, but I took Sunday off as it was Easter Sunday…..so I didn’t have anything planned in advance.  I came across a card with a triangle design….so here is my version of a Thank You card  made with the Dandy Garden Designer Series Paper:

And when I realized how simple it was, I decided to make another one so I could share two…same card, but different Designer Series Paper.  This birthday card uses the Ice Cream Corner Designer Series Paper:

Those were the two sample cards that I made just to see how they looked.  On my Facebook live I used the same papers, but made each of them a little different.  Here is the original one next to the second one I made:

As you can see I switched which parts of the triangles were “flipped” to the opposite side.  Stampin’ Up’s Designer Series Paper is just about all double-sided.  When making these cards, you need to check to make sure that you like both sides of the papers together as after cutting your triangles, two of the four pieces are flipped to show the reverse side of the paper.  It was a unanimous decision of those watching that the card on the right looks better.  The beautiful dragonflies are hidden by the sentiment tag and ribbon on the card on the left.  So when you are choosing your paper and which panels you are flipping, take simple things into consideration.

The hardest part of this card (and it’s really not even hard) is cutting the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of Designer Series paper into four triangle pieces.  Place the 3 3/4″ x 5″ piece of paper on your trimmer.  Line up the top right corner and bottom left corner on the cutting track and then cut diagonally corner to corner.  Place the two piece back together and then cut the opposite diagonal – cut from the top right corner to the bottom left.

If you would like to make this card, you will only need a few supplies

And these are the two birthday cards side by side:  Can you see the differences?

The card on the left has a circle for the sentiment piece, while the card on the right has an oval.  And the number of ice cream cones doubled on the second card….you can never have too much ice cream according to my husband!

If you’d like to try this card and need a little help with the cutting, you can watch the Youtube video here: Triangle Cards
