It’s a scrappy day. Are you a scrap saver? I am! What do you do with little pieces and scraps of Designer Series Paper after making a project? Do you throw them away? No way! Do you save them? Yes, I do! I recently used up just about all my pieces of the Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper. And I was left with lots of strips that were leftover. I searched for some ideas and and decided on this design.
With the help of my Triple Banner Punch, it was easy to notch one end of each of the strips to make little banners. I chose colors and patterns that matched….something that is super easy to do with Stampin’ Up products as color coordination is something Stampin’ Up! does really well! Inks, Paper, embellishments and papers all color coordinated! For the card above I chose papers that coordinated with Calypso Coral Cardstock and for the card below I focused more on the blue colors of Night of Navy and Coastal Cabana.
Same card, but one looks a little more “manly” and the other looks more “feminine”. Which one is your favorite?
This card is easy and fun to do as you get to “create as you go” by arranging and rearranging the strips until you get a “look” that you like.
If you’d like to “create as you go”, these are the supplies that you will need:
- Triple Banner Punch (or use a pair of Paper Snips to notch the ends.
- Calypso Coral Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; Score and fold at 5 1/2”. – Plus cut a piece 1 1/2” x 4” for the “header”
- Playing with Patterns Designer Series Paper – Strips are cut in varying widths of 3/4”, 1”, 1 1/4” and 1 1/2”.
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut two pieces 5 1/4” x 4” and a piece cut 1 1/4” x 3 3/4”
- Calypso Coral Ink
- Adhesive: Stampin’ Seal or Multipurpose Liquid Glue
- Paper Trimmer
- Your favorite Birthday Greeting stamp (or Congrats). I used a retired favorite from the Perennial Birthday Stamp Set.
And before you put away your leftover scraps….put one on the inside of your card too! (It will help you use them up!)
