General Cards, Thinking of You

Monotone Monday – Petals & More

Hello….welcome to Monotone Monday!  Or maybe I should have named this post I’ve Got the Monday Blues.  Either way, the card I’m going to share today was a little happy accident…and it started with blue branches. CAB6FE41-43C4-433B-92E0-E129D2DC7EE2

I was actually making another one of these cards for a friend.  You can read about it in this post Birds of a Feather Flock Together.  See the blue cardstock that is a mat for the embossed Whisper White piece?  You can’t tell, because it’s hidden…..but it’s missing something….

A little something I cut out of the middle…..

I had just finished cutting out the branch from a piece of Crumb Cake cardstock with the Petals and More Thinlits for the card above when I thought I’d have a little fun and cut a blue branch out of the Night of Navy Layer to use for something else.

I don’t like to waste paper,  I like to get my money’s worth, especially background cardstock, so I cut things out of them….usually circles or ovals that I keep in trays so I have extras to use when I am figuring out a card design.  You can see I have quite a few just waiting to be put on cards.

So instead of ovals and circles, I cut out branches….blue branches.  But then I had to think what to do with it.  I also had a few of the blue flowers left over….yes, I stamped and cut extra of those too.  A piece of Night of Navy Blue Gingham ribbon along the side helped give it a little balance.

All it needed was a sentiment.  Remember those extra circles and ovals I mentioned? …just happened to have the perfect ones.  Just needed a little stamping.

Put it all together and Voila!  Here it is!

  1. Love this card……….simple and elegant. Trying to decide which of the retiring set I really need to buy…..way too many of them retiring!!!!

    1. Thanks…it’s made with one of my favorite stamp sets (Petal Palette)….it’s a really versatile set…actually one of the first I bought). The list of retiring items is long, but some of the stamp sets are really not retiring. They are retiring the format they came in (Wood Mount or Clear Mount), but will be in the new catalog as CLING Mount. They are transitioning all their stamp sets to Cling or Photopolymer. If you have a particular stamp sets you are interested in I can tell you if it will be in the new catalog in the newer format or if it’s really retiring. Just send me a message or email. I did ask to have a new catalog sent to you, but don’t think you’ll get it until the end of May.
