Stampin’ Up has been encouraging the concept of “simple stamping”….just using paper and ink to make a card. No fancy cut outs, not along of layering, skip the bows, the fancy embellishments, etc. That is kind of hard for me….because I really like adding all the extra’s. But for first time stampers and for those without a stash of all the extra “stuff”, it’s nice to know that you can still make beautiful simple cards. So here is mine:
Here is a close up of the happy piggy. I added some curly eyelashes with a black marker. It gives her a little more personality….don’t you think?
The stamped image is from a stamp set in the annual catalog called This Little Piggy”. There are several cute images to choose from. In fact I think I’ll make a few more cards with this set. And aren’t those little piggies cute?
If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:
- This Little Piggy Clear Mount Stamp Set
- Flirty Flamingo Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2” ; scored at 4 1/4“
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4” (2 pieces – one for outside, one for inside)
- Ink: Memento Black
- Stampin’ Blends – Flirty Flamingo Light (pig) Granny Apple Green Dark (grass & leaf), Crumb Cake Dark (dirt), and Balmy Blue (flower) and Lovely Lipstick (flower center)
And don’t forget to add a little something on the inside too!
And I may have cheated just a little bit because I used the Stampin’ Blends to color in my little piggy….but I’m working on the simple concept….

Having stamped since the 1990’s, I’ve always done simple stamping. Too many extras make it too hard and time-consuming for me. Rather than fun, it is like a chore.
I don’t like to add too much to my cards….only what makes me happy. And I agree with you…stamping should be fun… and not a chore. Usually I add things….ribbon, embellishment because in my mind sometimes I look at what I’ve created and I feel there is something missing. When I do classes, I have my cards as an example and I always tell my class that they don’t have to do it exactly like mine….do what makes you happy.
