One of the gifts my husband and I received at Christmas was an Amazon Echo Dot, so now I can out loud and I have somebody that will listen and respond…if I call Alexa’s name that is. So we’ve asked for the weather report and to play music. So I get to hum along….well, actually I sing along, but then I’d have to change the name of my post…and the name of the stamp set that you are going to get a sneak peak at today…..which is coincidentally called Humming Along!
This stamp set is one of the free stamp sets I received at Stampin’ Up!’s 30th Anniversary Convention in November, but I hadn’t used it yet as I was busy making Christmas cards But I was looking for a stamp set that I could practice using my Aqua Painter and “water-coloring” skills and this fit the bill. It has not one, but two stamps that are big enough to color and leave plenty of room for error!! I also pulled out a cardstock and ink color that is retired, Peek-a-boo Peach, because if I goofed up, I didn’t mind using up some of the ink and cardstock.
I did add little light brushstrokes on the background just to give it a little color. But since the Very Vanilla cardstock is regular weight cardstock and not really meant for water coloring, I made sure that my aquapainter was on the “dry” side so the paper wouldn’t buckle. I think embossing the paper to give it a linen texture helped too. You can see the texture better here along with a hummingbird close-up.
It came out better than I thought it would. I haven’t purchased the Hummingbird Framelit Dies….yet….but I will because as I stated earlier Watercolor paper is a heavier weight and my hand got tired fussy cutting it out!
If you’d like to make this card, this is what you’ll need:
