Christmas is over and it is almost January…just one more day and it will be time to say hello to winter…..unless you live on the east coast of Virginia. We are having what I consider to be unusually warm weather for this time of year….the temperature has been alternating between the 50’s and the 60’s since before Christmas. Speaking of which…I haven’t officially put away my Christmas decorations yet, so when I was organizing my craft room I came upon this bag of wooden reindeer. I knew that I wanted to put at least one of them on a card.
So if you are going to talk about Winter, then the Winter Woods Stamp Set is the one to pull out. Although there is a more traditional Christmas tree there is also this fantastic stamp of trees.
Since this is a winter card, my trees were stamped in Soft Suede to give them a bare look.I also used my Crumb Cake Stampin’ Blends to color my deer. And as long as I was using leftover items, I found this bit of sparkly brown ribbon to put along the bottom of the card. And if the ribbon was going to be sparkly…..then so should the trees. So out came the Wink of Stella….isn’t that pretty?
I can just imagine a walk through the woods where the trees are all sparkly with ice. Well, I don’t actually have to imagine that….I’ve seen it in the form of frozen fog in Budapest, Hungary.
It looks like there was snow on the ground, but it was actually really thick frost and it made the trees look “frosty” too….like they were covered in ice. Doesn’t it look like the trees on my card?

- Layering Ovals Framelit Dies
- Stitched Shapes Framelit Dies
- Soft Suede Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Scored at 4 1/4”
- Shaded Spruce Cardstock – Cut 5 1/4” x 4”, plus a scrap for the scalloped oval
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 5 1/8” x 3 7/8”, plus a scrap for the stitched oval
- Ink: Soft Suede
- Wink of Stella
- Ribbon and Wooden Reindeer (non – SU , purchased at Michael’s)
- Snail Adhesive and Tear ‘n Tape (to attach ribbon)
- Mini dimensionals (for reindeer)
