General Cards, Thinking of You

Out of the Pile….Tropical Cards

I’ve been busy this week.  Last week I stamped and cut….a lot.  I shared the picture of my cutting endeavors in my last post….but here is it again.

These were all done from the Tropical Chic Stamp Set and coordinating Tropical Thinlits Dies.  So this week I’ve been putting some of those on cards….Birthday cards

Does it surprise you that a Tropical fern can look a little like a Christmas Tree branch?  And those flowers aren’t poinsettias….what we traditionally think of for Christmas.

But not everyone lives in a cold climate and is bundled up in warm hats and mittens on Christmas.  We lived in Key West, Florida for several years and it was NOT cold in December…..it was shorts and sandals weather.  So this tropical wreath would have looked just right hanging on our door.

This variety of cards just goes to show you that with a little imagination, any stamp set can be used for multiple occasions and each one can have it’s own individual look.

To make any of these cards this is the basics of what you’ll need:

  • Tropical Chic Stamp Set
  • Tropical Thinlits Dies
  • Tropical Escape Designer Series Paper
  • Stitched Shapes and Layering Circles or Ovals – for ovals, circles
  • Card Base:  4 1/4” x 11”; Scored at 5 1/2”. OR 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Scored at 4 1/4”
  • First Layer:  Cut 5 1/4” x 4”
  • Second Layer: Cut 5” x 3 4/“
  • Ink: Pick your favorite Color or use the colors from the Designer Series Paper: Granny Apple Green, Blushing Bride, Shaded Spruce and Whisper White
  • Snail Adhesive and Stampin’ Dimensionals
  • Most Important ingredient?  Your Imagination!

Happy Stamping!

  1. Hi Patricia, I know this post is from a while back. I’m wondering, is the “Have yourself a merry little Christmas” by SU!? If not, can you please let me know what company? Thank you!
