One Sheet Wonder Wasn’t So Wonderful

Do you ever make a card and then later keep looking at it and thinking….I don’t really like that or maybe in my case….”What in the world was I thinking using that color?”  And well, when you do it TWICE when you are making a group of cards using a One Sheet Wonder, well then obviously I was most likely making the cards late at night (or in my case….veeeeerrry early in the morning….like 2:00 a.m. and my brain wasn’t working properly.   Here is the group of cards:

Can you pick out the two cards that aren’t quite the same as the others?  One of them should jump right out at you!  Yes, it’s the card with the yellow background.  And the other one is the one with the more Maroon and Orange look.  Although I do have some kind of plausible excuse for that particular card.  My husband and I are huge Virginia Tech fans….and every fall Saturday when there is a home football game, you will find us in the stands rooting for our Hokies.    VIrginia Tech’s school colors just happen to be Chicago Maroon and Burnt Orange (which closely resembles Rich Razzleberry and Calyso Coral), the two colors in the second card.

Anyway….I deconstructed the yellow card….Not only did I not like the yellow, but what in the world possessed me to use Berry Burst Ribbon??  Bleah.   Here is the new and improved card.

I think it’s much improved over the original card I made.  What do you think?

The other card….well, I do like it and I can send it to my Virginia Tech Hokie friends, so fortunately I had another piece of that same paper so I recreated it with the same colors I used for the other cards in the bunch — Rich Razzleberry, Powder Pink and Very Vanilla.  Here is that new version.

And looking at the two cards side by side.

Don’t they look so much better??   And now that they “match” a little better, I can divide them up into 2 sets of cards and give them as a gift!

If you want to see close-ups of the other cards I made using a One Sheet Wonder and these papers, click HERE  to check out that blog post.

If you want to make either of these cards (because once you make One Sheet Wonder cards, the best part is that you can make other cards using your favorite new layouts!) this is what you’ll need:

Celebrate Card:

  • Rich Razzleberry Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score at 4 1/4”
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock – Cut two pieces 5 1/4” x 4”  (one for outside, one for inside)
  • Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper (retired) – Cut 1 1/4” x 4”; a piece cut 2 3/4” x 3 3/4”  (measure down 3/4” on the left side and make an angle cut do the bottom right corner)
  • Powder Pink Cardstock – Cut 1 1/2” x 4 1/4” and another piece cut 3” x 4” (make the same angle cut as before but measure down 1” on the left side)
  • Ink: Rich Razzleberry
  • Ribbon – 1/2” Finely Woven Powder Pink ribbon (retired)
  • Stamp Set: Amazing You (sentiment)
  • Triple Banner Punch
  • Enamel Dots &  Snail Adhesive

Hello Card:

  • Rich Razzleberry Cardstock – Cut 5 1/2” x 8 1/2”; Score at 4 1/4”
  • Sweet Soiree Designer Series Paper (retired) – Cut 3 1/4” x 3 1/4” – cut this piece into 4 pieces – cut vertical at 1 5/8”, then each of these pieces horizontal at 1 7/8”.  Arrange like a puzzle piece leaving a 1/8” gap (I just eye-balled it from the sides)
  • Very Vanilla Cardstock – Cut 3 1/2” x 4 7/8” (for outside) and 5 1/4” x 4” (for inside)
  • Ink: Rich Razzleberry
  • Ribbon: Rich Razzleberry 1/4” grosgrain ribbon (retired)
  • Endless Birthday Wishes Stamp set (sentiment) (retired)

Ok….now I can sleep at night instead of having the thought of “I need to fix those cards” running through my head……..although one of them is sideways

Happy Stamping!

  1. I love these! I think they are some of the best One Sheet Wonder cads I’ve seen. Thank you for sharing.

I always feel guilty not buying from people like you who share their great ideas with me, but I became a Non-Demonstrating Demonstrator 😉 a year or so ago, just to get the bargains, so I buy from myself. I just wanted to know that I appreciate you, even though you can’t see it in the form of increased revenue.

    Thanks again!

  2. Thanks Dorothy! I hope you’ll keep reading and maybe get ideas. I just started my blog a few months ago…I love sharing ideas, but not really pushing the “buying”…..I have it on there “just in case”. So I’m mostly like you….joined to get the discount. I’d love to see some of your cards sometime!

  3. And I love the ideas for cards you are sharing! (The remakes of the two “off” cards are so pretty!) I haven’t tried the One Sheet Wonder as yet, so need to read your cutting instructions and give it a shot. My budge is shot this month because of my up coming trip, so in Sept. I will be placing an order again. Too many things I want!!

Hope all is well with you!
