Mix it Up Monday

Who has retired stamp sets that you don’t use much anymore?  Me!  Who has retired Designer Series Paper that is sitting on the shelf.  Me!  Who has new stamp sets and paper that you are trying to decide how to use?  Me!  Why not mix them together?  Let’s face it,  buying new stamps is fun, but why should we let older stamp sets just sit when we loved them just a few months ago?  I “semi-retired” two years ago, but sometimes I think I am busier now than when I worked….so why not let our retired stamps and paper be busier too instead of just sitting on a shelf?

So I decided today is going to be Mix-Up Monday.   Each week I’m hoping to share a card that has a mix of old products and new products.  I did a post about a month ago mixing new and old….you can read Mixing the Old with the New here.  Here is my first Mix-up Monday card:95D64BC6-F766-4B49-8892-3CEE0A23272F

Can you tell what is old and what is new?  The new is part are the flowers from the Abstract Impressions stamp set.  The flowers in this set are made using either two or three step stamping….so they get a layered look.  The flowers on my card are made using the two small flowers in the lower right hand corner in the picture below, plus I made the “leaves” from what also can be used to made a butterfly or dragon fly.  See how versatile this stamp set is?  C0F566EE-ADE6-4373-BBB3-ABAAA5050D25

The old part of this card is the Designer Series Paper and the ribbon.  This paper is from a set that was retired at the end of May called Naturally Eclectic.  This particular piece has a very abstract design and is perfect for pairing with the Abstract Impressions stamp set.  Doesn’t it look like this paper was made with a two stamping process? image

This is what you’ll need to make this card:

  1. Good eye! Both are great cards – I like the brighter one, and I am not a real fan of lemon lime!
