Best Wishes, General Cards

Stretching My Creativity

So where do you get ideas for cards when you don’t think you are actually creative enough to think of them on your own?  Why you do what everyone else does and check out Pinterest.  So the past few months I’ve been collecting “pins” of cards that I like and just storing them away on Pinterest boards.  One of the boards I have is not actual cards….but sketches that show different ways to layout the elements of a card.  You get to be creative in choosing what your card is going to look like.  And then all the questions start….What color should I use?  Which paper?  Should I add ribbon?  Let’s try this paper….nope, let’s try that paper.

I’ve been stalking in the background and getting weekly emails with a new card sketch from this blog: Freshly Made Sketches   One of the best parts of this blog is they have a “just for fun” challenge for other crafters to post pictures of the card they make using the weekly design.  It’s amazing how the same layout can look so different.  Each week a favorite card is chosen….not a contest really, but you get to be the “Queen” for the week.

I’ve decided to play along.  This is the sketch for this week.12DC971A-1E76-413D-A357-DCD3D8D6EF11  I made at least a dozen different attempts with different papers, different colors, bigger banners, smaller banners, even had a tree branch in there for the bird to sit on.  It was exhausting, but I finally settled on this:
