If At First You Don’t Succeed…..

If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again.  And that’s what I’m going to do….try again with the Varied Vases Stamp Set and the three columns.  I found a different  card layout…still had three columns, but also a another box across the bottom…so a little different than the first one.  Maybe this would be it!A2D0F197-1CBB-4132-B9DE-34059C6C5C00

So after trying to figure out a few things, this is what I created:

I was planning on making a card with each color in the 2018-2020 In-Color Designer Series Paper, but thought I’d try something similar, since I wasn’t really liking the stamped flowers or maybe it was just my bad coloring.  I remembered that there is a tulip on the Vases Builder Punch, so thought I’d try that.  So I made one of each color and decided that would work.  So I cut all my paper, gathered my supplies and set up a little assembly line….I find that’s faster than doing one at a time.  Here’s all my supplies…ready to go! But I got carried away when I was stamping the stems for the flowers and actually stamped more than I wanted….I was just going to put one flower in each vase on the side panels.   When I laid it out to get an idea of the look before attaching everything, it was looking a little busy.

I thought maybe something simpler would be better.  Maybe laid out like this instead?

Don’t scroll up too fast or you’ll see the next picture….which one do you think I went with?  I didn’t want to cover up the Polka Dots that I embossed on the cardstock….because, well, I LOVE polka dots.  Since I started off with an old adage “If at first you don’t succeed, try, try, again”….I thought I should finish by using another adage: “Less is more”; and went with the one second card.

Here they are all done.  But the more I looked at it and the more I looked at that vase, it looked like it needed something….maybe a bow??  But it didn’t look right with a bow on the vase and a bow next to the sentiment.  But, the bow did give that vase a little bit of a finishing touch….but what to do all the left over vases since I had only used one on each card?

I made little cards.  Little 3” x 3” cards….what I call gift enclosure cards.  You know those little cards that you tuck inside a gift bag or small treat when a regular size card is too big.  Here they are:

Did you notice that there are two of every color (Lovely Lipstick, Grapefruit Grove, Call Me Clower and Blueberry Bushel) except for the Pineapple Punch Color?  That’s because I wasn’t paying attention to where the top of the tulips were when I was cutting them down and I accidentally cut off the top of the flowers.  (I did tell you that I had a black thumb in an earlier post…guess that applies to paper flowers too!)

If you’d like to make the 5 1/2” x 4 1/4” cards, you will need the following supplies:
Please note: Because I have been an avid scrapbooker for over 15 years, I have lots of crafting supplies that are not Stampin’ Up! brand.  I have listed what I used as well as a Stampin’ Up equivalent)
