I’ve been on a flower kick lately….maybe it’s because the Christmas holidays are over and it’s been a dreary, rainy start to January in Virginia Beach and I’m longing for some sunny weather. Despite the rain, the temperatures have been almost spring-like….in the 60’s and it even hit 71 degrees a day or two ago. So all that has me thinking that some spring flowers should be blooming soon.
I used the Lovely Lattice stamp set again…..this is one of the stamp sets that you can get for FREE during Stampin’ Up’s Sale-A-Bration event that is happening NOW and goes all the way to March 31st! You can see my previous post Pretty in Pink HERE.. But this time I decided to use different colors for the flowers, so I chose blue and purple. I “water colored” this using my Aqua Painter. It’s super simple to use…just fill it with water and you’re good to go.
To get the ink onto the brush, just give your ink pad a little squeeze before you open it up. When you open it, you’ll see a “splotch” of ink on the inside of the lid. This is what you will dip your “brush” into to get the ink onto your paper.
Use the Stazon Jet Black ink when stamping the image that you will be watercoloring. And don’t forget to use watercolor paper! The regular Whisper White cardstock is NOT made for watercoloring when you are doing lots of color as it will be water-logged and will buckle and can shred when soaked with water…then you’d just have a soggy mess.
BUT…there is an exception to that. If you stamp with the regular classic ink pad like this one.
Stamp your image with the ink….and then before it dries, take your Aqua Painter and carefully just go over where you have ink and it will give your image a little color. That is what I did to make this flower on the inside of the card blue!
And then I carefully…just using the tip of the brush…dabbed a little color onto the leaves. I did a little decorating on the envelope so it would be pretty too! See it peeking out from behind the card?

- Night of Navy Cardstock – Cut 4 1/4” x 11”; scored at 5 1/2”
- Whisper White Cardstock – Cut 4” x 5 1/4”
- Background layer – Cut3 3/4” x 5” (the paper I used is not Stampin’ Up),
- Watercolor Paper (for stamped image) (I fussy-cut this out)
- Lovely Lattice Stamp Set
- Wishing You Well Stamp Set (for sentiment)
- Ink: Stazon Black, Night of Navy, Gorgous Grape and Old Olive
- Ribbon
- Snail Adhesive, Mini Glue Dots (for bow) and Stampin’ Dimensionals
